Paricia "Pat" Lewis
Artist Overview

Pat is an Arizona native who was born in Phoenix. She attended Colorado Woman's College and ASU and holds both a B.A. and Master's Degree in Secondary Art Education. She re-ceived four individual scholastic honorary awards from the State of Arizona and for two years given the all around Best Student Faculty award at ASU. She also received the Beta Chi Epsilon Art Faculty Award.

After teaching elementary school art in the Detroit public schools for four years, Pat served as Art Instructor for Tempe Parks and Recreation also for four years. In addition, she served as faculty associate for the College of Industrial Design and the College of Architecture, both at ASU, and has taught the ArtUs class at the Hayden Senior Center for the last eight years.

Pat says she has always enjoyed all forms of artwork since early childhood and has been painting since grammer school. She likes working with oils and pastels and her favorite subject matter includes landscapes and portraits. She has also explored othe mediums including jewelry making, silversmithing, and pottery. Pat loves to hike and go 4 wheeling with her dog Buddy and anybody else who is brave enough to accompany her and , of course, her sketch pad and pastels are almost always with her.

Her biggest love, she admits, is watching the creative process at work and she particularly enjoys watching children create.

Pat has exhibited her work in Oklahoma, Detroit, Honolulu, and all around Arizona.
